Wheat germ  


Wheat germ is used as an ingredient in a wide variety of foods formulated to provide advantageous nutritional characteristics.  Because the kernel or endosperm, is meant to feed the new plant, wheat germ is packed with good nutrients.  In addition to Protein and Fibre, its mineral properties include, Magnesium and Copper, and a very good source of  Calcium and Phosphorus, Zinc, Manganese and Selenium.   It is a good source of Vitamins B5, B6, and B1 (Thiamine), the flavonoid Rutin and Vitamin E. Wheat germ is loaded with monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats. Wheat germ is therefore a unique source of concentrated nutrients, highly valued as food.  Athletes freely use wheat germ in smoothies, cereals, and add it to just about everything they consume as a boost to their nutrient intake.  

Yeast

 
Saccharomyces cerevisiaes yeast, has been used in the production of fermented bakery and brewing products since ancient times.  Now, it is more widely used in food production than any other yeast species.   A byproduct of the fermentation process, brewer's yeast is available in most health food stores. Brewer's yeast contains a variety of important nutrients and offers a range of potential health benefits since it is rich in antioxidants. Pet owners providing their pet with daily brewers yeast,  report their dog's coat is shinier and the skin appears healthier.  Because brewers yeast is rich in B vitamins, it's an excellent assist for high-stress animals.
